Social Media Ethics
If you’re a journalist or business writer, you know all about ethics – what you can and can’t write, where your opinions are not welcome and how to conduct your personal decisions. But with the age of social media, guarding your personal beliefs and interests may be harder. Just because you’re expected to write in an unbiased way professionally, are you also to do so on your personal social media accounts? What about “liking” a client’s
Facebook page or retweeting something a source said? According to this article in ReynoldsCenter Business Journal, there are few steps in social media ethics, including knowing your newsroom, thinking before you tweet, and not being a jerk. Read the article for the 10 best practices for social media.

Why Content Marketing is Important
Nearly everyone uses the internet. And the majority of users are searching primarily on Google. But since the internet can be filled with junk, Google is constantly trying to give users a better experience. When users search, Google wants the results to include highly relevant, high quality sites. Therefore, Google targets webspam – sites with poor content. This is just another reason why content marketing should be an important part of your marketing plan. Read this article “Content Marketing and SEO: a Marriage Made in Mountain View,” for more information about Google and content marketing.

Marketing can be More Effective when Targeting Personality Profile
Most marketers and advertisers would agree that a lot of thought goes in to target audience – particularly demographics and age – when creating a campaign. However, a new study is suggesting that marketing can be done much more effectively when the personality of the target audience is considered. It makes sense – the interests of a high school senior at age 17 are likely different than a young professional at age 24, for example. Read the article in ScienceDaily for more about marketing and targeting to personality profiles.

Don't Make these Marketing Errors...
Marketing can be very effective when
executed correctly. However, like anything else, it can also be
ineffective if done poorly. People and businesses tend to get frustrated
when they feel they have dumped a lot of time and money into marketing
and aren’t seeing Return-On-Investment (ROI) or the results they want.
According to an article by Ryan Caligiuri in The Globe and Mail, you can put all the money and time in the world into marketing and still fail to see results if you don’t remember one thing: marketing is a process.
Caligiuri says that there are 3 fatal marketing errors to avoid, including: failing to take it slow, neglecting your best buyers, and leading with tactics. To read about these errors and how to avoid them, check out the full article. For help effectively using marketing, contact Sagefrog Marketing Group. Visit www.sagefrog.com.

Have you Written your Online Identity into your Will Yet?
Ever thought about what happens to your email accounts,Facebook, Twitter and other online identities after you pass? According to an article by Rebecca J. Rosen in The Atlantic, nearly half a million people with Facebook accounts passed away last year. So what were family and friends left to do – create a memorial page? Leave the account open? Shut it down?
Rosen says the government is now suggesting that people create a Social Media Will when estate planning that will help friends or families know what to do with all of your online accounts. What do you want to happen to your online accounts? Is writing a Social Media Will a smart idea?
