New Year's Resolution: Create a Marketing Plan

We’re about 3 weeks away from entering 2013. And as you sit down to reflect on the year and make your resolutions for the next, it’s important to remember that not all of your planning has to be in your personal life. A new year is a great time to consider the marketing successes and non-successes of the past year and make changes to your marketing plan. Establishing goals to stay ahead of the trends in business will help you enter the New Year with an organized and strategic marketing plan.

TextMarks blog offers a few suggestions for New Year’s resolutions that you may want to consider for your business. Here are four from the article that focus on mobile marketing:

  • ·         Send fewer emails – instead of blasting your customers or clients with email promotion after email promotion, consider sending fewer emails and focusing more on mobile campaigns, including text messages with the same codes, offers and deals

  • ·         Embrace social networks – you’re probably already using popular social media sites. Engage with your customers or clients through your smartphone using social media – answer tweets and blog comments instantly

  • ·         Think “here and now” – Planning ahead can help you stay organized, but in today’s society, people move fast and expect instant gratification. Social media and smart phones have made last minute planning interesting and possible. Take some risks and work short-term (e.g. 24-hour notice for an event)

  • ·         Embrace your neighborhood – it’s easy to get caught up in the internet’s accessibility to people all over the world. But you can’t forget about the local people – the customers, friends, clients, referrals who helped build your success. Promote your community and recreate buzz on a local level
